Head of the Central Directorate of Civil-Military Cooperation of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Colonel Oleksandr Kutkov, and Director General of the War Museum, Yurii Savchuk, signed a Memorandum of Cooperation.
Cooperation between the General Staff and the Museum has been ongoing since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, but for the first time it has been officially formalized and covers a wide range of areas.
Conducting joint events of various kinds, implementing exhibition projects, organizing educational programs, memorial events, information support – these are just a small part of the forms and options for cooperation.
“The war is not fought only on the battlefield – it is also fought for memory, for meanings, for the future. Cooperation with the War Museum is our contribution to forming a coherent narrative of Ukraine’s current struggle and preserving evidence for future generations,” noted Oleksandr Kutkov.
The result of the cooperation is implemented projects. In particular, in September 2024, an exhibition dedicated to the operation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kursk region was presented.
The project “...beyond the borders of our native land” combined historical context and current events, demonstrating how museum space can become a platform for reflecting on ongoing military processes and Ukraine’s role in them.
“We have a unique opportunity to document events that are determining the fate of the country right now. Cooperation with the military allows us to do this honestly, deeply, and with maximum historical accuracy,” emphasized Yurii Savchuk.
The implementation of the Memorandum of Cooperation will contribute to the popularization of the history of the Ukrainian people’s struggle for independence and the territorial integrity of our state, as well as to the dignified honoring of the feat of Ukraine’s Defenders.
