The FOR FREEDOM exhibition, which opened on February 27, 2025, at the War Museum, is dedicated to all foreign defenders of Ukraine. Each day, citizens from various countries visit the exhibition to learn about the stories of their compatriots who came to Ukraine to support its independence and fight for the freedom of the democratic world.
On March 12, 2025, a group from the United States visited the exhibition. The project curators, Yurii Horpynych and Maryna Bohush, gave the guests a tour, highlighting the significance of each foreign citizen’s contribution to the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
The guests honored the memory of the fallen heroes, including Collin Teem, a foreign defender from the US. Before he left for Ukraine, he told his mother: “They need help, Mom. I’m young, physically and mentally able, and I’m good at what I do. Why not go help? They deserve freedom, just like we do. I feel like I can help.” Collin Lee Teem was killed on May 11, 2024, at the age of 23, while holding the line for his comrades to get to safety.
Despite the challenges posed by wartime, the War Museum remains dedicated to revealing the reality of russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine. The FOR FREEDOM project is a natural extension of this ongoing institutional mission. After gaining insight into how the National Museum has functioned during the full-scale invasion and honoring Collin Teem’s memory, the guests chose to support the Museum by donating computer equipment to enhance its operations.
The team of the War Museum expresses its deep gratitude to all those who support the Ukrainian people in resisting aggression and promoting awareness of the russian-Ukrainian war.
