Guides from the War Museum have joined the Liberation Route Europe programmes

International Cooperation / Museum Life / 11 March 2026

Last year, guides from the War Museum participated in four cooperation programs with the pan-European organization Liberation Route Europe. This foundation brings together European historians and museum professionals—from Poland and the Czech Republic to the United Kingdom and Spain—who are dedicated to researching and promoting the history of the Second World War. The organization aims to preserve both the tangible and intangible cultural heritage related to the Second World War, its memory, and its contemporary significance.

By visiting historical memorial sites and former battlegrounds in France, Italy, Belgium, and the Netherlands, our young specialists broadened their horizons regarding the course of the Second World War in Europe and acquired knowledge that they now apply when working with visitors.

This collaboration culminated in participation in two international conferences: on February 21 at Jagiellonian University in Kraków (Poland), and on March 2–3 in Nijmegen (Kingdom of the Netherlands). The museum professionals shared insights with their international colleagues regarding the operations of our Museum during the russo-Ukrainian War. Specifically, they presented our initiatives for documenting russian crimes, spoke about expeditions to conflict zones, and highlighted the ongoing transformation of our institution.

The War Museum sincerely thanks Liberation Route Europe for the opportunity to gain this invaluable new experience. We look forward to fruitful further cooperation.
