Oleksandr Zinchenko has donated artefacts from the current war

Our partners / Museum Life / 3 April 2026

The War Museum collection has been replenished with trophies from the 93rd Separate Mechanized Brigade “Kholodnyi Yar”. The artifacts of modern warfare were handed over by the well-known historian, publicist, screenwriter, journalist, and TV presenter Oleksandr Zinchenko.

The legendary 93rd Separate Mechanized Brigade “Kholodnyi Yar” has been defending Ukraine since the very beginning of Russian aggression in 2014. The trophy artifacts from the Kholodnyarivtsi – samples of Russian military uniforms, sleeping bags, backpacks, protective glasses, personal items, among which are postcards and a lighter with propagandistic enemy inscriptions – will now be permanently stored in the Museum.

During the event, the Director General of the War Museum Yurii Savchuk recorded a video message to the soldiers of the 93rd Separate Mechanized Brigade “Kholodnyi Yar”, in which he thanked the defenders for protecting our state and for the trophies handed over from the front. The head of the institution emphasized that the task of the Museum of War is to shape national memory, to collect and preserve for future generations artifacts that reflect the ongoing war. Yurii Savchuk also noted that the institution’s plans include the creation of a modern multifunctional museum space, where the Museum of Military Technologies and the Museum of Russian (Soviet) Propaganda will be located. Some of the transferred trophy artifacts will become part of the Museum’s exhibitions.

Oleksandr Zinchenko shared the story of his friendship with the soldiers of the 93rd Separate Mechanized Brigade “Kholodnyi Yar”, which began back in the fall of 2022. The historian learned from acquaintances about the fundraising for the brigade’s needs and decided to join in. He posted an announcement on his Facebook page and appealed to his audience for support. He managed something incredible: the fundraising campaign, which was supposed to last almost a month, was closed in just three days. Cars, generators, drones, military equipment – this is only an incomplete list of everything that was transferred to the front over four years with the direct participation of Oleksandr Zinchenko.

The War Museum is sincerely grateful to the 93rd Separate Mechanized Brigade “Kholodnyi Yar” and to Oleksandr Zinchenko for the transferred materials, which will become part of new exhibitions and will testify to the crimes of Russian occupiers on our land.
